At the Port of Hamburg, efficiency meets sustainability.
With the innovative igus Mobile Shore Power Outlet (iMSPO),
container ships can now be supplied with shore power quickly,
safely, and flexibly - exactly where they berth.
Three mobile systems installed at Container Terminal Hamburg (CTH)
travel distances of up to 300 meters along the quay.
Powered by robust igus energy chains, heavy cables are guided
reliably and compactly, ensuring precise positioning
of the power connection every time.
The result: shore power connections in less than 15 minutes with minimal personnel effort.
This not only boosts operational efficiency and reduces costs, but also
makes shore power a far more attractive alternative to diesel generators -
significantly lowering emissions in the port.
At Rotterdam’s cruise terminal,
a mobile shore power system replaces diesel generators with onshore electricity.
The movable iMSPO Cruise socket, guided by a roller energy chain,
travels precisely along the 230-metre quay to quickly and reliably connect ships.
